Graduate Student

Headshot of Sophie, a dedicated therapist at Therapists in Sarasota.

Introduction to Sophie Gengler

Sophie Gengler is currently a graduate student at Northwestern University pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Sophie holds a dual undergraduate degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and Philosophy. With her unique background in neuroscience and philosophy, Sophie takes a holistic approach to psychotherapy. She incorporates her deep understanding of the brain, the mind-body connection, and somatic embodiment practices into her psychotherapy practice.

Also driven by a passion for fostering healing and growth, Sophie is committed to person-centered counseling, valuing the individual’s capacity for self-awareness and personal transformation. She believes in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their inner worlds, uncovering deeper insights into their emotional and psychological experiences

In her practice, Sophie bridges the gap between traditional psychotherapy and alternative wellness practices by incorporating somatic techniques such as breathwork, meditation, yoga, and sound therapy. These practices, she believes, can facilitate profound healing by connecting clients to their bodies and helping them release stored trauma, reduce stress, deepen self-awareness and enhance overall well-being.
